The University Medical Center hospital discloses a data breach after threat actors published online images of stolen personal information as proof of the hack.

The University Medical Center hospital, in Nevada, discloses a security breach, the hackers compromised its data servers and published online the pictures of the allegedly stolen personal information.

Early this week, the threat actors published the images of the driver’s licenses, passports and Social Security cards of about half a dozen alleged victims on its website.

The news was reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the incident took place in mid-June, and law enforcement was investigating the attack.

Anyway, the hospital said that it has no evidence that hackers breached any clinical systems. The hospital is notifying patients and employees that their personal information may have been exposed and will offer identity protection and credit monitoring services to the impacted customers.

“Cybersecurity threat analyst Brett Callow says the hacker group claiming responsibility for the breach has been linked to high-profile ransomware cases. He says 32 health care providers have been hit by ransomware attacks this year.” reported the Associated Press.
